The Indian equities ended on a higher note on Friday, with the Sensex and Nifty sustaining on the previous session’s Fed-driven rebound, while metals surged 2.6% amid demand optimism following China’s 2026 fiscal pledge, helping limit the week’s overall losses.At close the Nifty 50 up 148.40 points or 0.57% to close at 26,046.95, while the BSE Sensex added 449.53 points or 0.53% to close at 85,267.66, after gaining about 0.5% on Thursday.

L&T, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Ultratech CemSensex gains 450 pts, Nifty near 26,050 amid metal rally ent, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Jio Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, and Reliance Industries were the top Nifty gainers on the Nifty while, losers included Wipro, Sun Pharma, HDFC Life, HUL, Eicher Motors, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra.On the sectoral front,Nifty Metal was the best performer, gaining 1.71%, followed by Realty, Media, Private Bank, and Financial Services indices. The only laggard was Nifty FMCG, trading marginally lower.Broader markets remained strong, with the Nifty Midcap index rising 0.76% and the Smallcap index up 0.74%.
Rupee Close:
On 12 Dec'25, the Indian rupee depreciated by 9 paise to close at an all-time low of 90.41 against the US dollar on Friday, as uncertainty over the India-US trade deal and persistent foreign fund outflows dented investor sentiment.Forex traders said the rupee is under pressure, largely due to aggressive dollar purchases by importers amid surging global precious metal prices.
