The Sensex on Wednesday closed with gains of 380 points. The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange regained 51,000 mark while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange ended above 15,300 level.The Sensex climbed 380 points, or 0.75 percent, to finish at 51,018. The Nifty also added 93 points, or 0.61 percent, to settle at 15,301.In the BSE broader market, the Mid-Cap index fell 0.14 percent while the Small-Cap index appreciated 0.69 percent.
In the Sensex pack, shares of 22 companies climbed while eight logged losses. Bajaj Finserv was the top gainer as it climbed 4.8 percent followed by Bajaj Finance which gained 2.7 percent. Infosys climbed 2.6 percent and Maruti rose 1.8 percent. HDFC and Larsen and Toubro, both added more than one and half a percent.On the other hand, Power Grid tumbled 3.1 percent and NTPC declined 1.8 percent. ONGC fell 1.2 percent and Kotak bank slipped 0.6 percent.
In sectoral indices 13 out of 19 sectors climbed. The Realty sector was the top gainer as it added 2.9 percent followed by IT sector stocks which gained 1.9 percent.Tech rose 1.7 percent. In losers, Metal plunged 2.4 percent, Power declined 2.3 percent and Utilities ended 1.8 percent down.The overall breadth of the BSE trade was positive as shares of 1950 companies gained while 1185 declined. Shares of 146 companies remained unchanged.
