The Indian share market indices Sensex and Nifty dropped over 1% on Thursday, weighed down by a selloff in technology shares. Market sentiment turned bearish amid concerns about Trump's policy priorities and the Fed’s future rate decisions. At close, the Sensex was down 1,190.34 points or 1.48 percent at 79,043.74, and the Nifty was down 360.75 points or 1.49 percent at 23,914.15. About 2156 shares advanced, 1632 shares declined, and 101 shares unchanged.
Adani Enterprises, Shriram Finance, SBI, Cipla were the top gainers on the Nifty while losers included. SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Life, Infosys, M&M, Bajaj Finance.On the sectoral front, auto, bank, IT, FMCG, metal pharma, energy shed 0.3-2 percent, while PSU Bank index gained 1 percent and Media index up 0.3 percent.BSE Midcap index ended flat and Smallcap index was up 0.4 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 28 Nov'24,the Indian rupee depreciated 9 paise to close at 84.49 against the US dollar on Thursday, weighed down by a negative trend in domestic equities and strength of the American currency.Forex traders reportedly stated a mixed-to-weak tone in crude oil prices cushioned the downside.
