Satwiksairaj-Chirag clinch maiden China Masters title

In Badminton, Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched the men’s doubles title at the China Masters in Shenzhen on Sunday. The Indian duo defeated China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in the summit clash to secured India’s first-ever title at the China Masters.The title is a big boost for the world No. 5 pair as they gear up to defend their gold medal at the Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19.

The victory marks the duo’s second title of the season. They had earlier won the Singapore Open Super 750 and finished runners-up at the Thailand Open Super 500. Satwik and Chirag booked their place in the final after defeating Malaysia’s Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong 21-15, 18-21, 21-11 in the semifinals. The Indian duo had finished runners-up at the China Masters in 2023 and 2025 and reached the semifinals in 2024.
