Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday claimed that while the current SIR exercise began only after 2024, the Congress had been losing elections ever since Rahul Gandhi entered politics. Shah accused Gandhi of using the SIR as an excuse to cover up his and the Congress' failures and predicted that the Congress would suffer a fourth consecutive loss in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. “You can no longer gain the trust of the people by fabricating media events and spreading lies,” Amit Shah said."The NDA is poised to win with a landslide majority, and the Congress is set to lose for the fourth consecutive time,” he said. Shah accused the Congress of failing to connect with voters and alleged that Rahul Gandhi was trying to protect infiltrators amid a huge debate over the SIR.
“The people of India understand Rahul Gandhi’s agenda behind opposing SIR under the pretext of protecting infiltrators. They will no longer be misled by such tactics. Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues should prepare for 2029. The NDA will return with a thumping majority, while Congress faces the prospect of a fourth consecutive defeat. The people stand with PM Narendra Modi, the BJP and the NDA. This is a reality Congress cannot ignore.” - Union HM @AmitShah ji

He launched a scathing attack on the Congress party following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) "resounding victory" in the Gujarat local body elections, pointing to the opposition’s prolonged electoral drought in the state. Addressing the media in Dekhi, the Home Minister asserted that the recent poll results, in which the BJP secured 90 out of 104 seats across three municipalities and municipal corporations, reflect the unwavering trust the people of Gujarat have in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. "I want to make this point clear—and specifically convey it to Rahul ji—that the Congress party has not won a single election in 41 years. The last election they won was back in 1985; since then, they have faced continuous defeats in Gujarat," Shah said.
Shah said the Congress needed to introspect instead of “questioning electoral processes” after repeated defeats. He also accused Rahul Gandhi of being disconnected from voters, arguing that protests and allegations would not help the party regain public support.
Citing the recent bypolls in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, along with local body elections in Rajasthan and Tripura, Amit Shah argued that the Congress’s electoral setbacks could not be attributed solely to allegations concerning voter lists or EVMs. He pointed to the use of ballot papers in Tripura’s local polls, saying the BJP’s performance there countered claims that its victories depended on EVMs.Amit Shah said Rahul Gandhi could not claim to represent the country by mobilising Opposition leaders and supporters for protests in Delhi. “The nation's voice is in the fields, barns, villages, remote hills, forests, and even on the banks of rivers. You have no reach there,” he said.
