Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan said on Tuesday he was disappointed with co-star Rajinikanth’s announcement he will not join politics over his health. Rajinikanth’s decision came a day after he left the hospital in Hyderabad where he was being treated for high blood pressure. Like his fans, I too have been disappointed but his health is important to me, Kamal Haasan of the Makkal Needhi Maiam said.
Earlier, superstar Rajinikanth announced that he will not take a plunge into politics and start a party. "With extreme sadness I say that I can't enter politics. I alone know the pain I went through while announcing this decision," he said in a statement on Tuesday. He, however, said he will serve people in whatever ways he can without entering electoral politics. "My hospitalisation was a warning given by God. My campaign will impact health amid the pandemic," he added, explaining the reason for his decision. The 70-year-old's debut in politics has been anticipated by fans for nearly 25 years but despite weighing in on various subjects, he had not taken the plunge.
