The shuttler P V Sindhu became the first Indian woman athlete to win two individual Olympic medals, as she beat China's He Bing Jiao to win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. She had earlier won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sindhu won the match 21-13, 21-15 and completely dominated her opponent. She had won silver at Rio Olympics in 2016 after losing to Spain's Carolina Marin in the final. Sindhu came out with purpose on Sunday and stamped her authority in the bronze medal match, right from the start. The Chinese tried to stay in touch but Sindhu was having none of it. The Indian star made it 19-15 to before winning two more consecutive points to finish things off.Sindhu is also only the 4th athlete to win multiple medals in the women’s singles badminton category at the Olympic Games. Reacting to Sindhu's win, PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate her.We are all elated by the stellar performance by @Pvsindhu1," he tweeted.

To make things better, the India men's hockey team advanced to the semifinals of the Games with a 3-1 win over great Britain with Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh and Hardik Singh scoring. with tis win India ended their 49-year wait at the Olympics on Sunday by reaching the men's hockey semi-final.
