Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' through video conferencing, kicking off a 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign aimed at creating a drug-free India through mass public participation and youth engagement.The campaign seeks to mobilise young people across the country to combat substance abuse and encourage them to become ambassadors of positive social change in their communities. The launch event witnessed participation from more than 1 crore youth at over 28,000 locations nationwide.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of involving the country's youth in the fight against drug addiction, describing a drug-free society as a crucial pillar for building a Viksit Bharat(Developed India).The campaign will see weekly awareness activities organised every Sunday over the next 100 weeks across the country. These will include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, nukkad nataks, discussion forums, art competitions and community engagement initiatives designed to educate people about the dangers of substance abuse.
Ahead of the Prime Minister's address, youth participants across the country took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge simultaneously, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from drugs and promoting a healthy, addiction-free society.The initiative brought together a broad coalition of stakeholders, including MY Bharat volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations, youth wings of industry associations and more than 125 partner spiritual organisations.
The launch event was also attended virtually by several Chief Ministers and Governors, reflecting a nationwide commitment to tackling substance abuse through collective action.
Five prominent spiritual leaders—Pujya Amma, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Pujya Daji, Dr. Chinmaya Pandya and Swami Brahmavihariji—participated in the programme. Senior representatives from organisations including Brahma Kumaris, ISKCON, Chinmaya Mission and Auroville also joined the campaign, lending their support to the nationwide initiative,according to media reports.The campaign is being organised with the support of more than 125 spiritual organisations, educational institutions, public organisations and industry associations, reflecting the government's emphasis on a whole-of-society approach to addressing drug abuse.By combining sustained awareness campaigns with community participation over the next 100 weeks, the initiative aims to strengthen the Nasha Mukt Bharat movement and encourage citizens, particularly young people, to play an active role in building a healthier, safer and drug-free India.
