PM, Karnataka CM condole Chitradurga blaze deaths probe ordered

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Chitradurga district, where a bus caught fire after being hit by a speeding truck, killing at least 10 people.In a message shared by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on X, Modi said he was “deeply saddened” by the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would receive ₹50,000.“May those injured recover at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also condoled the deaths and said that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident. He assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed sorrow over the incident as well, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the bus reportedly burst into flames following the collision, triggering a major rescue operation by local authorities.
