Built at an estimated cost of Rs12,000–13,000 crore, the high-speed corridor begins near Akshardham in Delhi and traverses key districts of Uttar Pradesh—including Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur—before culminating in Dehradun.Designed as a six-lane, access-controlled expressway with a speed limit of up to 100 kmph, the corridor features multiple bridges, interchanges, and rail overbridges, along with 14 wayside amenities aimed at enhancing commuter convenience.
A standout feature of the project is its environmentally conscious design. The expressway includes a 12-km elevated stretch—one of the longest in Asia—along with dedicated elephant underpasses and wildlife crossings to ensure minimal disruption to natural habitats. The corridor is strategically integrated with major road networks, including the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, strengthening connectivity across regions and easing traffic congestion in the National Capital Region.Officials noted that the project is expected to boost tourism, facilitate faster movement of goods, and drive economic growth across the connected regions, while also setting new benchmarks in sustainable infrastructure development.
