During his one day visit to Varanasi on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in various programmes. He puformed Puja at the famous Vishwanath temple. At Rajghat, PM Modi made public address, beginning his speech with 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jo Bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal'. "Today is a special occasion for Kashi,” he said, referring to the return of a statue of Goddess Annapurna from Canada, a century after it was said to have been stolen from Varanasi, he said

PM Modi paid tributes to fallen soldiers, indirectly referring to Pakistan and “expansionist” China. He also reiterated his call of 'Vocal for Local', saying the manner in which people celebrated Diwali this time, using local products, was inspiring. After his speech, the prime minister enjoyed a stunning laser show at the Chet Singh Ghat while riding a cruise boat.
