in a dramatic turn of events in Pakistan, President Arif Alvi dissolved all the assemblies following the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Khan also advised the President to call for fresh elections. Earlier, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri dismissed the no-trust move terming it against Article 5 of the Pakistan Constitution. Suri chaired Sunday's session after opposition parties filed a no-confidence motion against Speaker Asad Qaiser. According to Article 5 of Pak Constitution, loyalty to the State is the basic duty of every citizen. Elections will be held within 90 days , said tha government. Taking the floor shortly after the session began, Pak- Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan's earlier claims that a foreign conspiracy was behind the move to oust the government. "The Prime Minister will continue his duties under Article 224 of the Constitution. The Cabinet has been dissolved," said Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry.
"We will not leave parliament until both decisions [rejection of no-confidence motion and dissolution of assemblies] are reversed," said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Maryam Aurangzeb. After the Opposition approached the Supreme Court over the Pakistan government's moves, the court constituted a special bench to look into the matter. Later, in a public address, Imran Khan told Pakistan to prepare for elections"The people should decide what they want, not foreigners. Buying people through money has resulted in this. Put that money in something better. I implore the nation to prepare for elections. You will decide the future of this nation, not the corrupt or the foreigners," he said.
