Pakistan reserves right to enter Afghan territory, says Khawaja Asif

Pakistan on Saturday summoned the Afghan ambassador to convey its “strong reservations” over the India-Afghanistan joint statement issued in New Delhi a day earlier. Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who landed in New Delhi on Thursday, is on a six-day visit to India. The Foreign Office (FO) in a statement said the Additional Foreign Secretary (West Asia & Afghanistan) conveyed Pakistan’s “strong reservations” to the Afghan envoy regarding references made to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement, calling it “a clear violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.”  Pakistan also criticised remarks made by Amir Khan Muttaqi while in India, particularly his assertion that terrorism is an internal issue of Pakistan.
The remarks came a day after Muttaqi condemned the multiple explosions in Afghanistan and blamed Pakistan for it, further asserting that Afghan soil could "never" be used for terrorism. "We consider this act of Pakistan wrong. Problems cannot be solved like this... We have kept the door to discussion open. They should solve their problem on their own. Afghanistan has peace and progress after 40 years," Muttaqi said in Delhi. However, the Pakistan foreign ministry clarified that unauthorised Afghan nationals cannot stay in the country, asserting that it can regulate the presence of foreign nationals.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Defense Minister has claimed that his country reserves the right to enter Afghan territory in order to confront opposition groups. Khawaja Asif stated that Kabul has yet to provide any assurance that Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan. "We’ve held numerous negotiations. Our Foreign Minister has visited Kabul, and Sadiq Khan goes there frequently. However, no progress has been made instead, the situation has worsened. I can say with certainty that India is using Afghan soil to recover from its setbacks. Conditions have been facilitated in Afghanistan for India’s activities," he alleged.
This claim has consistently been rejected by the Islamic Emirate, which has reiterated that Afghan territory will not be used against any country, especially its neighbors. Additionally, the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Emirate had previously warned Pakistan over the violation of Kabul’s airspace and the recent Pakistani airstrikes on Paktika.
