NEP is a revolution, nothing saffron or green, Sukanta Majumdar

Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar has claimed that there is nothing saffron or green in the National Education Policy. He said, "The NEP is a revolution in India's education system. The main thrust of the NEP is given to learning through the mother tongue, which is Tamil in the case of Tamil Nadu," he said."After the eighth standard, a student can select any language from a list of 22 languages to study as the third language," Majumdar said.

He slammed Mamta government for slashing the Jadavpur University’s proposed budget from Rs3,299 Cr to Rs1,015 Cr & then further down to Rs606 Cr—forcing the university to arrange 25% of funds on its own! UGC & EEC rejected this underfunded proposal, and JU was removed from the the prestigious Institute of Eminence (IoE) status list.

On West Bengal govt reportedly imposing a ban on Holi celebrations in Santiniketan Sonajhuri Haat to preserve greenery, Majumdar says, "The West Bengal government has been doing appeasement politics for a long time because Mamata Banerjee knows that the Muslim vote bank helps her win elections... I would like to tell the Hindus of West Bengal to celebrate Holi with full enthusiasm. We will fight together against the obstacles created by the police."
