Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday inaugurated the seventh edition of the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart (MPTM) 2026 at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal. The four-day event is being held from October 7 to 10.The state is set for a major boost to its tourism sector, with leading hospitality groups and investors proposing projects worth thousands of crores across Madhya Pradesh.The proposals span luxury resorts, wildlife tourism, heritage hotels, spiritual destinations, wellness facilities and other tourism-related projects across several districts.

During the event, 12 strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements were signed covering skill development, rural and adventure tourism, film and media promotion, smart tourism and heritage conservation.Letters of Award (LoAs) worth a total of Rs 252 crore were also handed over for 14 major projects, including hotels, wellness resorts, luxury tented camps, eco-tourism units and wayside amenities along three key tourism highways.One of the biggest announcements was an MoU with A.R.M. Foods Private Limited for an investment of Rs 848.40 crore at Ramgarh in Sehore district. The project includes a golf course, hotel villas, a wellness resort and a luxury hotel. According to the government, the flagship project is expected to generate 920 direct jobs, along with hundreds of indirect employment opportunities.Company Chairman and Director Atul Agrawal represented the group during the agreement.
The Chief Minister also held one-to-one meetings with leading tourism investors, hospitality groups and industry representatives. Discussions focused on new hotels, resorts, tourism infrastructure, heritage conservation, skill development and film tourism.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted Madhya Pradesh's cultural heritage, wildlife and unique tourism attractions.Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country where deities are offered liquor and where tigers and cows drink water from the same river.Highlighting the state's wildlife conservation efforts, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the reintroduction of cheetahs in India decades after their extinction.Yadav said he had recently returned from releasing cheetahs into their third habitat in Madhya Pradesh, further strengthening the state's position as a major wildlife tourism destination.

The Chief Minister also announced that India's largest pumped hydro storage facility would be launched in four months near the Gandhi Sagar Dam in the Mandsaur-Neemuch region of Madhya Pradesh, which lies within the broader Chambal River basin.The event also witnessed the launch of a new Madhya Pradesh Tourism website and a coffee table book showcasing the state's tourism potential.
