A district-level programme under the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) was organised in Jamnagar on Saturday, during which memoranda of understanding worth Rs 5,716 crore were signed with nine companies, paving the way for employment generation for around 2,100 people.The programme was held at the Leuva Patel Samaj under the chairmanship of Arjun Modhwadia, State Minister for Forest and Environment, Climate Change, Science and Technology, and in-charge minister of Jamnagar district. During the event, the District Industries Centre exchanged MoUs with participating companies and the minister handed over keys of loading vehicles to beneficiaries under the Vajpayee Bankable Yojana for business use.
Addressing the gathering, Modhwadia said Vibrant Gujarat is not merely an event but a reflection of the state’s long-term vision for development, self-reliance and global competitiveness. Launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the initiative has positioned Gujarat as a preferred destination for global investors, he said.
Highlighting Jamnagar’s industrial significance, Modhwadia said the district holds a unique place in Gujarat’s economic landscape, with strengths ranging from brass parts and bandhani to refineries, petrochemicals, port-based activities and traditional crafts. He said the skills and dedication of local entrepreneurs have earned Jamnagar the identity of the ‘Brass City of India’.The upcoming VGRC in Rajkot aims to identify district-level industrial opportunities, encourage local entrepreneurs and accelerate employment generation, he said. The platform offers opportunities for MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs and youth, supported by the government’s continued focus on ease of doing business through transparent policies, faster approvals and modern infrastructure.
Entrepreneurs are creators of wealth and key contributors to the nation’s progress, Modhwadia said, particularly through job creation. He noted that thousands of people in Jamnagar are employed in oil refineries, bandhani and brass parts industries, with local businesses increasingly adopting modern technology, upgrading processes and focusing on market research. He appealed to local entrepreneurs to actively participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference to be held in Rajkot.State Minister for Education Rivaba Jadeja said the bandhani industry forms an integral part of Jamnagar’s cultural identity and has enabled many women to become self-reliant. She said the GI tag for Jamnagar bandhani and the consistent efforts of artisans and entrepreneurs have helped the district gain national and global recognition. Brass components manufactured in Jamnagar are now used by institutions such as ISRO and NASA, reflecting the district’s industrial excellence, she added.
Under the VGRC series in Jamnagar, MoUs worth Rs 5,716 crore were signed in the presence of ministers and senior officials. In the wind-solar power hybrid renewable energy sector, Opwind Energy Private Limited committed investments of Rs 3,368 crore, Jamnagar Renewables One and Two Private Limited Rs 1,703 crore, and Suzlon Western India Project Limited Rs 600 crore. These projects, to be implemented over the next three years, are expected to generate employment for more than 1,725 people.In the engineering, auto and allied industries sector, Shiv Om Brass Industries, Metlex Extrusion, Atlas Metal Industries Private Limited, Rembem PGM Limited Industries Private Limited and Yellow Gold Metal Private Limited committed investments across aluminium extrusion, aluminium and copper lugs, e-waste recycling, chemical products and brass parts manufacturing. These projects are expected to provide employment to over 400 people and are scheduled to commence in 2026.As part of the entrepreneur success story segment, Ramji Gadhiya of the Jamnagar Factory Owners Association and Ashok Domdiya of Microtech Metal Industries shared their experiences in the brass industry. The programme also featured expert-led seminars on the Gujarat startup ecosystem, SME innovation aligned with corporate practices, global export opportunities, credit linkage, the PMFME Yojana, skilling youth, employment generation and an overview of VGRC initiatives and schemes implemented by the District Industries Centre.
An exhibition with around 25 stalls showcasing brass parts, bandhani, handicrafts and other sectors was also organised. The minister and other dignitaries visited the stalls and interacted with participants.The keynote address was delivered by K.C. Sampat, Managing Director of iNDEXTb. The programme was attended by District Panchayat President Mayaben Garsar, MLA Divyesh Akbari, Collector Ketan Thakkar, District Development Officer Ankit Pannu, Deputy Mayor Krishna Sodha, ASP Pratibha, senior leaders Bina Kothari and Vinodbhai Bhanderi, along with representatives of industry associations, officials, industrialists and invited guests.
