Amreli hosts Gujarat’s Grand 80th I-Day state level celebration

Gujarat marked India's 80th Independence Day with a grand state-level celebration in Amreli on Saturday, where Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unfurled the National Flag at the Forward School grounds amid a vibrant display of patriotism, cultural pride and public participation.
Thousands of people, including government officials, public representatives, students, security personnel and local residents, gathered at the venue to witness the celebrations. The Chief Minister inspected the ceremonial parade, took the salute from combined contingents of the Gujarat Police, armed forces and youth brigades, and extended Independence Day greetings to the people of the state.


The event featured an impressive parade involving police contingents, home guards and cultural groups representing different regions of Gujarat. Adding to the festive atmosphere, helicopters of the Air Force and police showered flower petals over the audience following the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Several cultural performances highlighting Gujarat's rich traditions and heritage were also presented during the programme, drawing enthusiastic responses from the large gathering.
The celebrations in Amreli followed a week of preparations and commemorative events across the district. On the eve of Independence Day, Chief Minister Patel visited the historic Shri Nagnath Mahadev Temple and offered prayers for the prosperity and progress of Gujarat.He also inaugurated a special exhibition at Samarth Vyayam Mandir dedicated to 75 freedom fighters from the region. The exhibition paid tribute to several prominent personalities, including Gujarat's first Chief Minister, Dr. Jivraj Mehta, and highlighted their contributions to the country's freedom movement.As part of the pre-Independence Day activities, the Chief Minister participated in a tree-planting drive on Savarkundla Road, reinforcing the state's focus on environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Addressing the gathering after the flag-hoisting ceremony, Patel highlighted Gujarat's role in India's development journey and reiterated the state's commitment to strengthening infrastructure, attracting investments and empowering rural communities.He emphasized that Gujarat continues to contribute significantly to the vision of building a self-reliant and developed India through industrial growth, technological advancement and inclusive development initiatives.


To commemorate Amreli's role as the host of the state-level Independence Day celebrations, the Gujarat government also announced dedicated development grants for the district. The funds will be utilized to strengthen road connectivity, improve civic infrastructure and enhance healthcare facilities.Senior cabinet ministers, state officials and local representatives attended the event, which concluded a series of cultural and patriotic programmes organized across Amreli district to celebrate the nation's 80th Independence Day.
