Mother Dairy on Thursday announced that it will pass on the benefits of the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) on a wide range of products directly to consumers. The company, one of India’s leading dairy brands, recorded a turnover of Rs17,500 crore in the last fiscal year.Welcoming the GST Council’s decision, Manish Bandlish, Managing Director of Mother Dairy, said the rate cut on dairy products such as paneer, cheese, ghee, butter, UHT milk, milk-based beverages, and ice creams will improve affordability and accessibility across households.“We commend the Union Government’s decision to reduce GST rates on a wider range of dairy products. This move would significantly boost the affordability and accessibility of value-added dairy products for consumers. It is a particularly big boost for packaged categories, which are fast-growing favourites in Indian homes and will see stronger demand momentum going forward,” Bandlish stated.
The company assured that it is fully committed to ensuring that the benefits of the tax reduction reach consumers. “By lowering the tax slabs, the move will encourage wider adoption of packaged, value-added dairy products, strengthen consumer preference for safe and quality offerings, and enable more families to enjoy wholesome dairy goodness at better value,” Bandlish added.Industry observers note that the reduction in GST rates on dairy products is expected to not only support consumer demand but also create stronger market opportunities for farmers, as expanding demand for packaged dairy could enhance income and stability across the supply chain.
