Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has accepted the fact that except for one or two political parties, every political party's leadership is centred around a family. Most political parties' leadership is only within the family, and that's a fact, including the Congress party, he said and added that transformation must happen. Talking with an agency, he opined that political parties are a reflection of society, and in Indian society, particularly South Asian society, families play a predominant role in the societal hierarchy, which is reflected in parties. Maybe in 25 years and 30 years' time, as society transforms, political parties will also transform, he said.

On Tamil Nadu elections, Karti said, "We are part of the INDIA alliance. The DMK leads the alliance. We are strongly with the DMK. I think the alliance is intact. The alliance is a good alliance. All political parties in the alliance will remain in the alliance, and this alliance, in my political reading, will win the election in a multi-cornered contest next year." On Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Karti Chidambaram says, "Of course, the electoral role has to be checked, rechecked, revised. Additions need to be made for people who have turned 18 and are eligible to vote. It must be an inclusionary, not an exclusionary exercise. The process must be simple and must be easy to comply with.
