Markets rally amid India-US trade deal boost,Nifty above 25,850

The domestic share market indices traded positive on Monday amid US trade deal boost.At close, the Sensex was up 485.35 points or 0.58 percent at 84,065.75, and the Nifty was up 173.60 points or 0.68 percent at 25,867.30. About 3003 shares advanced, 1181 shares declined, and 152 shares unchanged.
State Bank of India, Shriram Finance, Titan, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Grasim Industries were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Max Healthcare, Power Grid Corporation, ITC, ONGC, NTPC.On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in the green with media, consumer durables, realty, PSU Bank, pharma, healthcare, metal up 1-3%.Nifty Midcap index rose 1.6% and smallcap index added 2.6%.
Rupee Close:
On 9 Feb'26,the Indian rupee witnessed a volatile trading session and settled for the day on a lower note, down 9 paise to close at 90.74 against the US dollar on Monday, as traders assessed the details of the India-US interim trade framework. Forex traders said the rupee witnessed high volatility as the support from positive domestic equities and foreign fund inflows was negated by risk-off sentiments among investors.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments stated positive signals from the trade deal, coupled with the return of FIIs, fuelled a risk-on sentiment in the market. Investors are closely watching upcoming results, with PSU banks delivering stronger-than-anticipated performance, helping the PSU bank index outperform. Meanwhile, an accumulation strategy was observed in consumer durables and real estate stocks following the recent correction, driven by expectations of a demand revival.The recovery was broad-based, with sectors such as cement, capital goods, textiles, and consumer discretionary attracting investor interest, supported by union budget proposals and favourable trade deals.
