Major judicial reshuffle in UP: 582 Judges transferred by Allahabad HC

In a major administrative reshuffle, the Allahabad High Court has transferred 582 judicial officers across various levels in Uttar Pradesh. This move, described as the “annual transfer2025,” was initiated on Sunday evening by Satish Kumar Pushkar, Joint Registrar of the Allahabad High Court.The transferred officers include Additional District and Sessions Judges, Civil Judges (Senior Division), and Civil Judges (Junior Division). All transferred judges have been directed to join their new postings immediately.
The transfer list includes a substantial number of judges: 236 additional district and session judges, 207 civil judges of the senior division, and 139 civil judges of the junior division. Kanpur saw the highest number of transfers, with 13 judges reassigned. Besides, 11 judges from Aligarh and five from Bareilly have also been transferred. A key figure in this reshuffle is Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar, known for his verdict on the Gyanvapi Mosque survey in Varanasi. Judge Diwakar is noted for frequently referencing religious texts in his judicial decisions, which has brought him into the spotlight on several occasions.
