In Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc - consisting of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal - has crossed the majority mark in the Assembly election in that state. The BJP took an early lead after counting of votes began at 8 am, but Chief Minister Hemant Soren's JMM, which expressed confidence it would form the government again, fought back slowly and steadily. At 10.30 am INDIA was ahead in 51 of the state's 81 seats. The NDA was ahead in 28.The majority mark in the Jharkhand Assembly is 42.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of the Congress was leading by more than 1 lakh votes after two hours of counting of votes in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala on Saturday.The counting of votes for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll began at 8am, and postal ballots were first taken up. The strong rooms, where the EVMs were kept, were opened more than an hour before counting began.Wayanad is witnessing a triangular contest between Priyanka Gandhi, Bharatiya Janata Party's Navya Haridas, and the Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri.According to the ECI at 10am , Priyanka was leading with 1,01,743 votes against her nearest rival Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India.BJP candidate Navya Haridas was in third place, as per the ECI.
