Maharashtra: 10- day Ganesh festival culminates

In Maharashtra, The ten day Ganesha festival comes to an end now. The celebrations have been subdued due to the restrictions imposed in view of the corona virus pandemic, political circles and media are once again puzzled by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s remark about Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve as a “ future colleague”.

Thackeray’s  “ future colleague” puzzle

Maharashtra’s chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday addressed leaders including  Union Minister Raosaheb Danve at a public function in Aurangabad, as former and possible “future colleagues” leading to speculation as to whether  political realignment was in the offing . Addressing the dignitaries on the dais , Thackeray said ,” My  former , current and if we come together, future colleagues”. Union Minister Danve, BJP leader from  Maharashtra was present and also senior state minister Balasaheb Thorat of Congress. Later , speaking to reporters in another event, Thackeray clarified that he said former and current colleagues because there were leaders from all parties on the dais. He added,” If everybody comes together, they can become future colleagues too.” Speaking later  Danve said that  Thackeray’s’ remarks possibly hinted at his frustration with his alliance partners. A day after CM made this remark,  Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said  the party chief was referring to the possibility of leaders from the BJP defecting to the Maha Vikas Aghadi.  However, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Thackeray’s statements  were further evidence that he was done with his coalition partners. He said ,” While anything can happen in politics ,  I don’t see it happening immediately, at this very moment.
