Vastu Purush is lying face down on the ground, with bent knees and elbows. The head of Vastu Purush is in the northeast and both the soles of the feet are in the southeast corner. Both his elbows are in the angle of fire and the angle of the wind, respectively, his navel region is near the Brahmasthan of the plot and above him are situated all the deities who had attacked him and buried him in the ground. Who is Vastu Purush, how did he originate and why did the gods bury him in the ground:
The story of the origin of Vastu Purush is found in the Matsya Purana. Andhakasur was unable to defeat the gods after getting the boon, he also tried to kidnap Mother Parvati. Andhakasura's body was sieved after Lord Shiva's use of Pashupatastra, but the blood particles produced more number of Andhakagana. To drink the blood of these andhakgana, God created matrikas. These matrikas had sucked the blood that was falling. The demons (Vastu Purush) born from the sweat of Lord Shiva had also consumed the blood of the andhakasur besides the folk mother. But due to lack of satisfaction, he started eating everything around him. By the order of Brahmaji, all the gods defeated that demon and buried it in the ground. The gods stood on his body.
As a boon of Brahma, Vastu Purush got a place among the gods, got the right of being worshipped, and it was said that construction work on earth would be successful only when Vastu Purush would be worshipped and he would be pleased by offering sacrifices, etc. This Vastu Purush has become the Vaastu deity. The other deities were not instructed to move away from the Vastu Purush, so they are present on the Vastu Purush's body forever and ever. In Vastu Chakra, 45 deities including Brahma, Indra, and Ashta Lokpal are present. Vastu Purush, having wonderful and infinite power, punishes the person when he becomes angry and provides him with all the comforts of the material world when he is pleased.
