Outlining India’s agenda as the current Chair of BRICS, Jaishankar highlighted priorities including food and energy security, climate change, and sustainable development. He also stressed the need to leverage digital transformation, startups, and innovation, while strengthening development partnerships.Calling for reforms in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Jaishankar said the current multilateral order requires restructuring to reflect contemporary geopolitical realities. India, he added, would continue to advocate for a more representative and inclusive global governance system. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, reflects BRICS’ growing role as a counterbalance in international affairs, even as concerns from Western capitals, particularly Washington, persist over the grouping’s expanding strategic reach.
