'It was a strategic decision to leak information', Candian minister admit

Canadian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison said to a parliamentary panel on Tuesday that he told the U.S.-based newspaper that the Indian Home Minister Amit Shah was behind the plots. "The journalist called me and asked if it (Shah) was that person. I confirmed it was that person," Morrison told the committee, without providing further details or evidence.He made the disclosure at a hearing by the Canadian parliamentary committee on public safety and national security.When asked about the release of information on the particular allegation of the involvement of Home Minister Amir Shah for crimes in Canada.

The Washington Post had on October 14 cited unnamed Canadian officials as saying they had told the Indian government that “conversations and texts among Indian diplomats” ordered out of the country that day “include references” to Shah and a senior official in the Research and Analysis Wing “who have authorised … intelligence-gathering missions and attacks on Sikh separatists” in Canada.
Relations between the two countries have plunged to their lowest level ever over the issue of Canada's tacit support for Khalistani extremists among the large Sikh-Canadian population of about 8 lakh.
