The Indian share market ended on a weak note with Nifty at 25,800 on Thursday.At close, the Sensex was down 558.72 points or 0.66 percent at 83,674.92, and the Nifty was down 146.65 points or 0.57 percent at 25,807.20. About 1610 shares advanced, 2431 shares declined, and 141 shares unchanged.
Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance, Eicher Motors, ICICI Bank, Trent were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Wipro.On the sectoral front,except Consumer Durables (up 0.4%), all other indices ended in the red with IT index sheds 5% and oil & gas, media, realty down 1% each.Nifty midcap and smallcap indices fell 0.5% each.
Rupee Close:
On 12 Feb'26,the Indian rupee appreciated 17 paise to settle for the day at 90.61 against the US dollar on Thursday, as foreign fund investments lifted investor sentiments.Forex traders said foreign fund inflows, while not massive, provided a psychological anchor. Moreover, the RBI has been quietly ensuring that liquidity remains abundant in the banking system, they said.
