Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India's dairy sector is growing at 6 percent, above the world average with an annual turnover of Rs 10 lakh crore and the real strength of India's dairy sector is the power of women. Addressing the Golden Jubilee celebration of Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation GCMMF popularly known as Amul at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, the PM said Amul's success is a testimony of Women-led development.Lauding the contribution of Amul in making the farmers and women self-reliant, the PM underscored the importance of enhancing the economic power of women to realise the vision of a Developed India. He also focused on developing the rural economy and the empowerment of marginal farmers to fulfill the dream of a developed India.PM focused on a series of initiatives that are being taken by the government to improve the health of our cattle and empower cattle-growing farmers.

During the programme, the PM also virtually inaugurated the new UHT milk plant and the expansion of the cheese plant at Amul dairy, the cheese plant at Sabar dairy, the icecream plant at Sarhad dairy, the dairy plant at Mumbai by Bharuch Union, and the dairy plant expansion by Rajkot dairy.
