Strengthening India’s commitment to building responsible, inclusive, and innovation-driven AI ecosystems across states, the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, organised a Regional Pre-Summit event on Thursday at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.The gathering marks a significant milestone in the run-up to the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from 15–20 February at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Designed as a key precursor to the national summit, the Gandhinagar conclave brought together senior policymakers, global technology leaders, academic researchers, and industry practitioners to deliberate on AI-driven economic, digital, and social transformation.
The conference opened with a formal inauguration attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Minister for Science & Technology Arjun Modhwadia, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das, MeitY Additional Secretary and NIC Director General Abhishek Singh, and Ponugumatla Bharathi, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat.
Centred around the theme ‘AI for Good Governance: Empowering India’s Digital Future’, the programme featured keynote addresses and panel discussions led by experts from MeitY, Bhashini, Google Cloud, Microsoft, IBM Research, NVIDIA, Oracle, and AWS. The sessions focused on seven core areas:
•AI for governance and public service delivery
•AI-led transformation in urban and rural development
•Smart agriculture and rural prosperity
•Emerging innovations in generative AI
•AI for healthcare and public wellbeing
•AI for fintech and digital inclusion
•Multilingual AI with emphasis on Bhashini and language accessibility
Beyond the deliberations, the event facilitated high-level networking among participants and featured a dedicated Experience Zone, jointly curated by IndiaAI and the Gujarat Department of Science & Technology. The zone showcased cutting-edge AI solutions across governance, health, agriculture, and industrial applications."By convening government leaders, industry innovators, and academic experts on a common platform, the Gandhinagar Regional Pre-Summit aims to strengthen India's AI ecosystem with frameworks that are scalable, trustworthy, interoperable, and grounded in public interest.
