Gujarat has become gateway to global economy: Amit Shah

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday inaugurated the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI)'s annual trade expo 'GATE 2025' at Science City in Ahmedabad, in the virtual presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. On this occasion, the souvenir of 'GATE 2025' was unveiled, an official statement said. Chief Minister Patel stated that the theme of this trade expo, ‘Gujarat’s Vision, Global Ambition’, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global economic and industrial leader. He further added that during Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister, the Vibrant Gujarat Summit was launched with the sole objective of advancing trade and industry in the state. Since then, GCCI has played a pivotal role as a bridge between the government and the business community. 
Speaking on the occasion, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah  proclaimed Gujarat as the “gateway to the global economy,” lauding the state’s rapid progress in trade, technology, and entrepreneurship. He was virtually addressing the inaugural session of the Annual Trade Expo GATE 2025. Highlighting Gujarat’s transformation into a hub of innovation and industrial excellence, Shah said, “Gujarat has emerged as a pioneer in all the key sectors that will shape the global economy over the next 25 years.” He attributed this success to the state’s strong entrepreneurial ecosystem and a governance model that prioritizes infrastructure development and ease of doing business.
The Minister emphasized the importance of bridging government policy with industrial needs through a proactive and modern approach. He outlined key focus areas including digitalization of supply chains, fostering youth entrepreneurship, integrating MSMEs with startups, and promoting ancillary industries.“MSMEs are our greatest asset. If we look back, every major industry began as a small-scale enterprise. Gujarat’s small industries have significantly contributed to India’s industrial growth,” Shah noted, urging GCCI to take the lead in building a robust MSME-startup collaborative framework.
He credited the evolution of Gujarat’s business-friendly environment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as chief minister and said that this legacy has been strengthened under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. “Entrepreneurs looking to establish industries in Gujarat are assured of a business-friendly environment, free from political interference, with efficient systems and no strikes,” he added. Citing landmark infrastructure projects like the Kutch Renewable Energy Park, Dholera Smart City, and India’s first bullet train, Shah stated that Gujarat is well-positioned to drive India’s ambitions in the global arena. “PM Modi’s vision that strong infrastructure leads to a robust economy has made Gujarat a key global player,” he said.
Praising GCCI’s 75-year legacy, Shah acknowledged its role in shaping Gujarat’s industrial journey, maintaining constructive dialogue with governments, and supporting communities through challenges such as natural calamities. The three-day GATE 2025 expo will feature participation from over 300 trade industries. The event will host forums, panel discussions, and networking sessions aimed at boosting innovation, sustainability, and economic collaboration. Organizers expect more than 15,000 B2B visitors to attend.
