The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has revised the operating routes of several premium AC bus services in Gujarat, aiming to improve travel efficiency, reduce journey time and lower passenger fares through the use of newly developed expressway infrastructure. The changes have been introduced following directions from the Deputy Chief Minister, with the corporation restructuring routes for intercity premium bus services across key corridors in the state.
Under the revised arrangement, all premium AC buses operating between Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar will now travel via the newly built Ahmedabad-Dholera Express Highway.According to GSRTC, the shift to the expressway route is expected to shorten travel duration and reduce operational expenses. Part of the savings has been transferred to passengers through lower ticket fares.A total of 24 daily trips operating at hourly intervals between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. from both Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar will now use the new expressway corridor.
The corporation said services operating on the Gandhinagar-Diu and Gandhinagar-Mahuva routes have also been integrated into the same route network to improve overall connectivity.Following the route revision, the fare for the Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar premium AC service has been reduced to Rs 336, allowing passengers to save nearly Rs 15 per trip.
In another development, GSRTC has launched a new premium non-stop bus service on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway connecting Nehrunagar in Ahmedabad with Surat. The morning service from Nehrunagar will depart at 6:45 a.m., while the return service from Surat has been scheduled for 1 p.m.With the revised route using the expressway network, the fare for the Ahmedabad-Surat premium service has been fixed at Rs 687, offering passengers an estimated saving of around Rs 61 compared to earlier services.
GSRTC stated that the introduction of bus services on modern expressway corridors is part of its broader strategy to utilise upgraded national infrastructure for faster and more efficient passenger transport across Gujarat. The corporation added that tickets for all revised and newly introduced services can be booked in advance through the official GSRTC website and the GSRTC mobile application. Passengers have also been encouraged to make use of digital booking platforms for convenient reservations and updated travel schedules.
