Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a virtual meeting with Mexico’s Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard on Saturday, focusing on deepening economic ties and exploring new avenues to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
Describing the interaction as productive, Goyal said on X that both sides discussed ways to enhance economic engagement, promote industry collaboration, and unlock new business opportunities in India and Mexico.

Earlier in the day, the minister met Patrik Jonsson, Executive Vice President and President of Lilly International at Eli Lilly and Company, to deliberate on India’s growth trajectory and the company’s expanding operations in the country. The discussions also touched upon increasing investments and strengthening the ‘Make in India for the world’ initiative.Goyal also held a virtual meeting with Harry Theoharis, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, where both sides explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and maritime connectivity, among other areas of mutual interest.In a separate interaction, the minister met Aadit Palicha, Co-founder and CEO of Zepto, to discuss skilling, innovation, and strengthening supply chains. The talks also focused on integrating farmers into modern supply chains to enhance market access and improve value realisation.These engagements come amid the rapid growth of India’s startup ecosystem, which continues to play a key role in driving innovation and economic expansion.
