The Union Government will soon announce National AVGC, Animation, VFX, Gaming and Comic Policy and AVGC Mission. Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra said that, Ministry is in the process of finalizing the Cabinet Note. Later it will go for inter-ministerial consultation. He was speaking at a seminar on AVGC sector in FICCI Frames in Mumbai on Wednesday. He appreciated Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana for doing good in terms of AVGC policy. He said, National center of excellence is expected to be launched this year in Mumbai. Courses at this center will be curated with the help of industry bodies like FICCI and CII. He said that 4-5 regional centers are also planned for this center of excellence.
Chandra informed that, the government is planning to spend Rs 200 Crore for purchasing equipment which are easily not available in India. It will be made available to startups and others in the AVGC industry. Government is also planning Seed capital fund for the startup in the AVGC industry, he added. He appeals to the industry to utilize incentives targeted for the Post production and AVGC works of Project. He assured that the government will introduce a simple framework for giving incentives. Chandra clarified that a dedicated kids channel of Doordarshan is possible. But he appealed to private industry partners to produce content on a no profit no loss basis for doordarshan.
