Valentine’s Day: Love is the purest emotion a person can feel, says Sherleen Dutt

Unconditional, forgiving, and unwavering; this is what describes love for actress Sherleen Dutt. The actress, who is known for being part of series Honey Trap Squad, says that there is nothing that is purer than love.“Love is the purest emotion that a person can feel. We have all heard the timeless tales of Radha Krishna, Ram Sita and Shiv Parvati; that is what love is. It’s all about forming that unwavering connection with someone that surpasses all obstacles. It’s a bond that is unconditional and relentless. That is love for me. It makes you who you are, and adds so much value to your life,” she says.
Talking about her plans for Valentine’s Day, she says, “This Valentine's Day, as I don't have a special person in my life, I've planned something truly meaningful. I'm dedicating the day to celebrating the purest love – the love of my parents. Instead of focusing on a romantic partner, I'll cherish the time spent with the two individuals who have always been my unwavering support and a source of unconditional love. Valentine's Day, for me, is a day to honour all forms of love, especially the enduring bond with family.”
Love, between a couple, has its own journey, says the actress, adding, “Well, I think that the love before marriage is one full of sparks and anticipation. Nothing compares to the feeling of falling in love with someone, waiting to meet your special someone, talking on long phone calls. Love before marriage is a hopeful phase where you are busy planning your life together. However, love after marriage has its own charm. The bond between a husband and wife is the most profound. It is not only romantic, but transforms into our most important relationship based on trust and understanding.”
Ask her what is her idea of celebrating love, and she says, “I am not someone who equates love with gifts or expensive dates and trips. For me, it’s all about spending time, talking and making memories.”Talking about her learnings on love, she says, “My past relationships have taught me that everything happens for a reason. They have taught me that love can be accompanied by pain, but it is all worth it in the end. Love is about giving freely without anticipating the same in return.”

Designer Anjali Phougat: Love is not just with being with someone, but about their happiness

For designer Anjali Phougat, love is more to do with how happy and fulfilled someone, who is dear to us, is, rather than them being an active part of our lives. She says that possessing someone is not her idea of loving them.“Love, for me, is an unconditional feeling of happiness and fulfilment. Seeing happiness in the lives of those I adore is what love means to me. I am someone who does not believe in possessing someone, or just being with someone, just because I love them. Even if they are not an active part of my life, but they are content where they are, that is enough for me,” she says.
Talking about Valentine's Day, she says, “I don't believe in days. I mean it's just a little extra day and I don't just spend Valentine's with just my husband. We celebrate it as a family, with my daughter, my dog and my colleagues. It's just the way I function.”She adds that love changes as we grow in life. “Love changes and grows, and so does your relationship with your significant other. More than love, it is more of a responsibility that comes in after marriage. When we respect each other and mutually coordinate, respect each other's decisions, that’s what love is for me after marriage. The idea of celebration of love is very beautiful because we should celebrate because life is nothing without love,” she says.
She adds, “Love is fun, and we should always have that zeal, passion, fun, and something that gives us excitement in our lives. My learning is love is about letting go, love is about detachment. Love is about not getting attached to something or someone emotionally. When we don’t try and control the one we love, the situation magnetizes, it gravitates towards us.”

Sayantani Ghosh on Dahej Daasi: My character is the narrative driving force in the story

Be it negative as it may, some grey characters are essential to a story, and actress Sayantani Ghosh’s role in Dahej Dassi is an example to this. The actress plays the role of Vindhya Devi, the antagonist in the Do Dooni 4 Films production.“There are some characters which are integral to the progression of the story, and my character is like that. While it is a dark role that I play, my character is clearly the narrative-driving force and everything revolves around her actions. She is the Maha Sarpanch of 50 villages, and the Dahej Daasi comes to her house. It's a very powerful and authoritative role. She's like the king, and she rules; things work according to her wishes and all the traditions. For her, more than anything, more than life or God, her respect is important. As the story progresses, her ideologies clash with Chunri's, and the story moves ahead. Apart from that, she's a super powerful woman who believes in her principles, and for her, her self-respect is of utmost importance,” she says.
Talking about playing a Rajasthani character, she says, “The experience is rather personal for me as my in-laws, though Pahadi but are from Jaipur. I told everybody, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, that I am playing a Rajasthani character, and, they too, were so excited. Of course, it is challenging to pull off a Rajasthani character, especially the accent, but I am totally prepared for this challenge. We have had workshops where were given special training regarding the dialogues. Besides this, Vindhya Devi is a strong woman, not only mentally, but physically as well. When she stands, it’s always straight, she never slouches. So I have been making sure to perfect my posture.”
She adds, “like I said though my in-laws are Pahadi, they hail from Jaipur and we are talking using words like Bindani, Atthe, Maare, so the language, the demeanor, clothes, everything is exciting for me. I am wearing a lehenga with a shirt, pallu on my head and a bindi!”
Ask her if she connects to her role, and she says, “Well, her strength is inspiring and that is something that I relate to. She’s made a strong position for herself in a male-dominated world, and that is really commendable. Besides this, she loves her family, especially her son. This love for family is of course a commonality. But yes, there is a bad side to her as well and that is rather challenging for me to portray as I am not like that. But that’s the fun of acting, right? You get to play roles that are diverse from how you are. To be able to portray a character that is not you I think that's where the expertise of an actor lies and I'm happy that I'm getting an opportunity to play Vindhya Devi.”

Manish Goplani’s Shravani completes 250 episodes

There are some shows and characters that will always be special for an actor, and one such project for actor Manish Goplani, it is Shravani on Sheemaro Umang TV. Produced by Do Dooni 4 Films (Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat), the show is standing at crucial milestone of completing 250 episodes.“The show has been very special for me and I am overjoyed at completing half a century in the show. The team has been great and the cast comprises of very supportive artists and a peaceful environment of shooting. I will be completing 54 episodes soon,” says Manish.
Talking about how he connects with the show, he says, “There are very few characters that touch your soul, and this is one of them. The character, I’m playing has a journey of emotional attachment and friendship with Shravani so we (me and the director sir) are taking proper steps after a good discussion for the character for his journey to be portrayed as it needed.”
The actor adds that the role of Rohan is something that comes naturally to him. “I have never been so carefree when it comes to a character. Rohan is someone who is not very challenging to play. However, I wouldn’t say it was absolutely easy too, as he had his own layers. But yes, one thing that I can say with complete conviction is that the graph of this character comes naturally to me,” he says.
Talking about working with Do Dooni 4 Films’ Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat,” he says, “It's a pleasure working with such hard-working yet gentle human beings. They are very friendly which makes it easier for an artist.”
Meanwhile, talking about the changes he has noticed on the small screen. “TV has been a constant part of my life, and nothing much has changed for me. I was learning and I am still learning a lot from it. About the industry, it is, of course, growing day by day technically and the speed of this growth is way faster than earlier which is good,” he says, adding, “It's always like a learning experience in TV the amount of drama we shoot on TV and the technicalities behind has always been a great learning experience for me.”
