FM Sitharaman,Qatar’s trade minister discuss strengthening partnership

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday met Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between the two nations.During the meeting, Sitharaman underscored the transformative policy measures and reforms undertaken by India over the past decade to attract foreign investments, highlighting the country’s rapid economic growth and digital advancements.
“Both the Ministers reiterated the commitment to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations under the ‘strategic partnership’ between India and Qatar,” the finance ministry said in a statement posted on X.


The visiting Qatari delegation conveyed optimism about India’s economic trajectory, emphasizing that the Gulf nation sees promising opportunities for investments in India, particularly in emerging and technology-driven sectors.Separately, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary held a detailed bilateral meeting with Al-Sayed and his accompanying delegation. “This historic bilateral engagement witnessed in-depth discussions aimed at opening new avenues for trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between India and Qatar. Special emphasis was laid on strengthening bilateral economic ties, expanding business opportunities, and promoting investments in emerging sectors,” Chaudhary said in a post on X.


The meetings mark a renewed push to deepen the economic and strategic ties between India and Qatar, with both sides focusing on expanding cooperation across new sectors and reinforcing their long-standing partnership.
