Giriraj Singh highlights India’s strengths as a global textile hub in Japan

Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the India Trend Fair 2025 in Tokyo, a flagship event aimed at promoting Indian textile exports to the Japanese market. The fair is showcasing over 180 exhibitors from India, featuring a diverse range of apparel, fabrics, designs, and sustainable fashion to Japanese buyers, brands, and business leaders. In his address, Giriraj Singh emphasized the importance of deepening trade ties and invited Japanese businesses to explore investment and sourcing opportunities in India—particularly in technical textiles, textile machinery, and e-commerce.

Ambassador Sibi George, in his opening remarks, highlighted the increasing interest of Japanese companies in India’s textile ecosystem, and welcomed greater engagement from Japanese stakeholders.The fair is one of the largest platforms for Indian textile exporters to connect directly with Japanese buyers and is expected to further deepen bilateral textile trade.

Giriraj Singh has highlighted India’s strengths as a global textile hub. During the second day of his official visit to Japan, the Minister held a series of high-level meetings with major Japanese companies. The Minister met with the leadership of YKK Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of zippers and fastening products. He also held a meeting with the President of Workman Co, a leading company in workwear and functional apparel. Mr Singh also held discussions with Konica Minolta, a global player in digital and industrial printing. He invited Japanese companies to expand operations in India and contribute to ESG and sustainability goals.
