EASE reforms help PSBs advance Viksit Bharat vision:IBA

The Enhanced Access & Service Excellence (EASE) reforms have significantly empowered public sector banks (PSBs) to support the government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision by boosting credit access, expanding MSME outreach, and strengthening sectoral capabilities, Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) Chief Executive Atul Kumar Goel said on Thursday.
Highlighting the progress made under the latest edition of the reforms, Goel noted that PSBs have accelerated readiness for generative AI (GenAI), strengthened data governance, adopted cloud technologies for scalable operations, and digitised their operating models to enhance cost efficiency and service quality. In a series of posts on X, he also underlined the progress in cyber risk management, digitised collections, and improved credit monitoring using deeper market risk insights.

EASE 7.0, the latest phase of the reform initiative, was launched as a strategic response to align PSBs with India’s rapidly evolving economic priorities. According to the EASE 7.0 Annual Report released Thursday, the initiative has brought significant operational improvements, including enhanced employee productivity, data-driven workforce planning, and gender diversity initiatives. Banks have also improved customer experience by strengthening relationships and streamlining banking processes across digital and physical touchpoints.Reinforcing their role as drivers of inclusive growth, PSBs continue to be at the forefront of financial inclusion and development. EASE 7.0 marks a defining shift in the transformation journey of public sector banks, placing a strong emphasis on customer-centricity, robust risk practices, and future-ready capabilities, the report said.
