CJP launches protest at Jantar Mantar, seeks Edu Min’s resignation

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday launched a protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak and irregularities in the CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.Protesters gathered at the designated site carrying placards and raising slogans against the government’s handling of competitive examinations. The demonstrators accused authorities of failing to ensure transparency and integrity in the examination process.

According to agency reports, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived in New Delhi from Boston, United States, to lead the protest. Visuals shared by the party showed Dipke holding a copy of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s autobiography upon his arrival at the airport.Ahead of the demonstration, the party announced on social media platform X that it would begin its protest at Jantar Mantar "with the full backing of the Constitution of India" and reiterated its demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. In another post, the party said Delhi Police had granted permission for the gathering, allowing participants to assemble directly at Jantar Mantar instead of reporting first to the Parliament Street Police Station, as initially planned.
According to an official order issued by the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi District, permission was granted to the CJP to hold the protest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The order, addressed to Dipke, stated that the approval was given as a one-time exemption in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines and related civil appeal directions. The protest comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in national-level entrance examinations. Concerns over the conduct of NEET-UG have intensified following reports of paper leaks and administrative lapses. The examination has been rescheduled for June 21 this year.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is continuing its probe into the matter. Several arrests have been made as part of the investigation, while senior officials, including CBI Director Praveen Sood and National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh, recently briefed a Parliamentary Standing Committee on developments in the case.Student organisations have also staged demonstrations in Delhi and several other cities, demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system. Earlier, a number of protesters were detained outside the Ministry of Education during similar protests. The issue has sparked political reactions as well, with opposition leaders stepping up criticism of the Centre over repeated examination-related controversies. Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi have questioned the government's handling of the matter and called for greater accountability.
