The CBI has arrested a Regional Provident Fund Commissioner posted at the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation office in New Delhi while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh, officials said Thursday. The accused, Jagdish Tambe, posted as Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, Delhi (West), had allegedly demanded Rs 3 lakh for favourably settling Regular Disciplinary Action proceedings of an employee and during negotiations, reduced the amount by half, they said. The employee approached the CBI with a complaint, following which a raid was conducted. As per information he was caught re handed whule accepting a bribe.
The CBI has coordinated the return of Munawar Khan from Kuwait through INTERPOL Channels. Munawar Khan is a wanted subject of the CBI in the case of forgery and cheating in Tamil Nadu. The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), CBI, in collaboration with MEA and NCB-Kuwait, successfully brought back the wanted Red Notice subject Munawar Khan to India on 11 September 2025. Munawar Khan has been escorted by a team of the Kuwait Police and arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, from Kuwait. The custody of the subject was taken over by a team of CBI, STB, Chennai at the Airport on Thursday. Munawar Khan, along with others, had defrauded the Bank of Baroda. Shortly after cheating the Bank, the accused Munawar Khan left for Kuwait and was declared a proclaimed offender. CBI got the Red Notice published through INTERPOL in this case on February 07, 2022. As per CBI statement, more than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India in the last few years through coordination via INTERPOL channels.
