Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman has said Budget 2022 is a plan for the next 25 years which presents India on 100th year of Independence. She said the govt plans to create an India where today's youth will be happy and proud of the country. Speaking at a post-budget interaction with the corporate leaders and professionals of various industries in Mumbai on Monday, the FM said she is not only talking about the strengths and challenges of today but also about the future of India and its capabilities and make policies that support technology.
She said the budget was created at a time when the economy was recovering from the shock of COVID19 Pandemic, so there was a need to focus on getting the economy back on track adding with sustainable growth, which is why the budget emphasizes revival. The FM emphasized using goods available in India than importing raw materials from abroad. She said when it comes to the issue of indirect tax related to GST, it is not decided by the central government or the finance minister of any state but by the GSTCouncil which is made by a board consisting of members of the Center and the States. So when one, knowingly or unknowingly, criticizes GST, he/she is downplaying the importance of an organization created by all the member states.
