In Tamil Nadu, Armstrong, the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was allegedly hacked to death on Friday by six unknown individuals close to his home in Chennai's Perambur area, according to officials. Armstrong was left lying on the road after being fatally attacked by an unidentified group of bike-borne men who were dressed as food delivery agents, according to reports.Armstrong was taken to a city private hospital after the incident and was later declared dead. For a post-mortem examination, the politician's body was sent to Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital.
While the motive behind the murder is unknown, Sembium police are conducting an extensive search operation to catch the perpetrators.Police officials said this could be a revenge murder, linked to the killing of a gangster, Arcot Suresh, last year.

The opposition has hit out at the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and said the killing is evidence of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswamy said, "What do I say when the state chief of a national party is murdered? The law and order is shameful. There is no fear of law or the police".A lawyer, Armstrong was elected to the Chennai Corporation Council in 2006. He shot to fame after he organised a mega rally in Chennai two years ago and invited BSP chief Mayawati.
Reacting to the murder, BJP Tamil Nadu chief Annamalai took attacked the MK Stalin-led DMK government over the rising violence in the state.
