Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the landmark BRICS 2026 New Delhi Declaration reflects India’s growing global influence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Singh said India’s leadership at the 18th BRICS Summit placed the Global South at the centre while promoting a more inclusive, representative and balanced world order.“The historic BRICS Summit has successfully concluded in New Delhi,” Singh said, adding that India, as BRICS Chair, had prioritised resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability under the leadership of PM Modi.He said India’s approach focused on connecting BRICS cooperation directly with ordinary people, making the New Delhi Summit inclusive and human-centric.

Singh described the adoption of the BRICS 2026 New Delhi Declaration as a major achievement, saying it was “not just a document” but a statement of India’s growing global influence.He further said India had put the Global South “at the centre, not at the margins”, while championing a more inclusive and balanced global order.
Invoking the civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Singh said India had demonstrated that leadership was about building the strongest consensus rather than having the loudest voice.He congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the “super success” of the BRICS Summit, saying its outcome had left an indelible mark on the global stage.
The 18th BRICS Summit was hosted by India in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. The summit concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration.The declaration addresses key areas including global governance, economic cooperation, trade, energy security, technology, climate change and reforms of international institutions.
