In West Bengal, several areas in Murshidabad district are tense in the aftermath of violence during protests against the Waqf Amendment Act. Three people have been killed and 150 arrested in connection with the violence so far. Bhartiya Janata Party MP and former chairman of JPC on Waqf bill, Jagdambika Pal has demanded that the President's Rule should be imposed in West Bengal. Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari claimed on Sunday that more than 400 Hindus have been “forced to flee” their houses from Dhulian in West Bengal's Murshidabad district following a violence over the Waqf law that allegedly left three people dead.

In response to escalating unrest, the Calcutta High Court on Saturday ordered the deployment of paramilitary forces in the district's most sensitive areas. The court, acknowledging reports of widespread vandalism in several districts, emphasised that it could not "turn a blind eye" to the unfolding situation.The violence, which began after Friday prayers, persisted into a second day. Police confirmed that at least three people have been killed in the clashes. On Sunday, authorities arrested twelve more people, following overnight raids, bringing the total number of arrests to 150. Police stated that the situation had calmed in the Suti, Dhulian, Samserganj, and Jangipur regions.

West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's "incompetence" and her appeasement politics behind the ongoing violence against Waqf Act in the state. Meanwhile chief minister Mamata Banerjee called for peace, accusing "some political parties" of attempting to exploit religious sentiments for political gain.
