Newsinc24 Team Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched works on various infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu worth nearly 68-thousand crore rupees at a function in Chennai on Satuerday evening. They include works on the 118 kilometre long Second Phase of the Metro Rail Services in Chennai. The 61,843- crore rupees project is aimed at linking many hub centres of the city with modern transport connectivity. In his address, he lauded the track record of TN govt in handling the pandemic situation saying it tops among all states by reaching a recovery rate of 97 percent.Shah said the BJP is uprooting dynasty politics in various states in the elections, and expressed hope that the record will be repeated in Tamil Nadu as well.He asked the opposition to look into their backyard before talking of corruption.
-Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has said that all Guidelines are being followed by Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration to handle the Spread of COVID 19. The Ministry, in a statement, said that the Academy is taking every measure to break the chain of Covid-19 spread in consonance with the guidelines of the Home Ministry and the District Administration,Dehradun. All Officer Trainees, who have tested positive, have been quarantined in a dedicated Covid Care Centre. Since 20th of November, the Academy has conducted more than162 RT-PCR tests in coordination with District Authorities. 57 Officer Trainees have tested Covid positive at the Academy from the last two days. A total of 428 Officer Trainees are on campus for the 95th Foundation Course which is conducted for new entrants to the Civil Services.The Academy has decided to conduct all activities, including training, online till the midnight of 3rd of next month.
-The Odisha assembly witnessed uproarious scenes over the decision of the state government to close down thousands of schools. The second day of the winter session on Satueday,was marked by multiple adjournment over the issue. Opposition BJP and Congress demanded immediate withdrawal of the decision of the state government to close about 14 thousand schools in the state. Even as pandemonium prevailed during the major part of the sitting today, the speaker called an all-party meeting to resolve the standoff before adjourning the house till tomorrow. The matter will now be taken up for a detailed discussion in the house tomorrow as agreed upon in the all party meeting. The process of closing down a total of 7772 primary and upper primary schools only has been initiated.
-Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary of the influential All Assam Students Union, announced his resignation on Saturday night.Addressing the 17th convention of AASU here, Gogoi said he is quitting but did not cite any reason for the decision. "After much deliberation, I have taken this decision and I request all of you to help me to bid adieu to ASSU."Not for my personal interest I am resigning. I know there are risks and challenges in my future action. I seek the blessings of the people of Assam," the PhD scholar of Dibrugarh University said.There have been speculations about him joining active politics In September, a new regional political entity 'Asom Jatiyo Parishad' was launched, proposed by the AASU and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).Assembly elections are due in Assam early next year.After the formation of AJP, Gogoi had said that the historic Assam Accord of 1985 will be the key agenda of the new regional political party, adopting and maintaining 'Assam first; and will be forever' policy.
-Secondary school students in Thailand's capital rallied Saturday for educational and political reforms, defying government threats to crack down with legal action against the country's high-profile protest movement.The rally was called by a group that calls itself Bad Students, mocking their status as rebels against traditional school rules and authorities.Reflecting their light touch toward protest actions, they used props including people in dinosaur suits and oversize beach balls standing in for asteroids.Saturday's rally, held in one of Bangkok's busiest shopping areas, attracted a crowd of at least 1,000 people, many of whom were not secondary school students.Namfon Jaruk, a 21-year-old college student, said it was appropriate for demonstrators to discuss issues beyond education. We are not just students. We are citizens of this country, too, she said.
