The government on Thursday inaugurated Bharat Buildcon 2026, a major exhibition for the building materials and construction industry, with the event attracting more than 25,000 visitors on its opening day at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.Organised under the theme "One Nation, One Expo", the four-day exhibition aims to deepen industry engagement, promote business collaborations and connect manufacturers with government procurement channels and global trade networks.
According to sources, the event was inaugurated by Jitin Prasada, Manohar Lal Khattar and Parshottam Rupala in the presence of representatives from the construction and building materials sector.According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the exhibition brought together architects, builders, developers, contractors, manufacturers, traders, policymakers, industry associations and international buyers from India and abroad, providing a platform for industry interaction and business engagement.
Participants from more than 90 countries and exhibitors from over 100 Indian cities are showcasing products, technologies and services across 24 segments, including ceramics and stone, cement and steel, hardware, plywood and laminates, furniture, sanitaryware, electricals, paints and advanced construction technologies.Addressing the gathering, Prasada highlighted the role of free trade agreements in expanding opportunities for Indian industries in global markets. He said the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement would enhance market access and strengthen bilateral trade ties.The minister also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of positioning India as a trusted global manufacturing and sourcing destination through a strong focus on quality and competitiveness.Prasada noted that India possesses the capabilities, resources and industrial base required to strengthen its presence in key sectors, including construction and building materials.

Organisers said the platform offers industry stakeholders access to decision-makers and procurement heads, creating opportunities for partnerships and business expansion.The exhibition will continue over the coming days, featuring technology demonstrations, product showcases, networking sessions and discussions aimed at advancing innovation and growth in India's construction and infrastructure ecosystem.
