Assam:Bhupen Borah to Join BJP on 22nd February

In a major political development in Assam, former Congress chief Bhupen Borah is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on 22nd February. A day after resigning from the Congress party. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited his residence in Guwahati and both leader had a close door meeting. Later Sarma announced that Borah will join BJP.Along with him, a good number of Congress leaders will join the BJP in Guwahati and North Lakhimpur, Sarma said. According to Sarma Borah was the last recognised Hindu leader in Congress. 

The Congress had entrusted Bhupen Borah with the responsibility of holding discussions on opposition unity and alliance-building.
