Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday slammed senior RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks on namaz break rule and advised him to practice before preaching.Sarma was addressing media persons in Ranchi on the occasion of former JMM leader Lobin Hembrom's joining BJP at the saffron party headquarter."Tejashwi Yadav is criticising me but I want to ask him...is there any such practice in Bihar? You (Yadav) should have implemented four-hour break when you were deputy chief minister of Bihar. Practice it first before preaching," Sarma said.

The Assam Legislative Assembly has created history by scrapping the two-hour Jumma break on Fridays to enable the Muslim legislators to attend their prayers. The two-hour break from 11 a.m., in force since 1937, which was instituted by then Chief Minister Syed Saadulla, has been scrapped officially on the penultimate day of the Assembly and the decision has come into effect immediately. The move was championed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who thanked Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary on the floor of the House for facilitating this change. He tweeted on X, "By abolishing the colonial remnants of 2-hour Jumma break, Assam Assembly strikes a confident note for productivity. This was instituted by Syed Saadulla of the Muslim League in 1937. I thank Speaker Biswajit Daimary and our MLAs for this historic decision."
Hitherto, the Assembly  was used to sit its morning session on Fridays at 9.30 and adjourned at 11 a.m. to enable Muslim members take time off to attend their Jumma prayers and it resumed work only after lunch.
