In a sudden move ,the MHA on Friday appointed Anurag Kumar new CP, Delhi. He is a 1994 batch AGMUT Cadre IPS officer. The outgoing CP, Sathish Golcha has been directed to report to the LG, Delhi for further posting. Kumar served as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) before taking over the top post. Kumar has extensive policing experience in the national capital, having previously served in Delhi Police as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in multiple districts before moving to the IB, where he held several key intelligence assignments.

According to sources, during the tenure of out going CP, Delhi Satish Golcha Delhi's law and order situation was not satisfactory. Sources further said that CBI also arrested some Delhi Police officials in corruption carges and abour IPS officers were also on CBI radar. Sources said that MHA had reportedly expressed its displeasur to CP, Golcha, but there was no improvment visible. Golcha, a 1992-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, served as the Director General of Tihar Jail before he was appointed as the Delhi Police chief on August 22, 2025.
Anurag Kumar will now face several major challenges as he takes command of the Delhi Police. Maintaining law and order in the national capital, curbing organised crime, tackling cybercrime, further strengthening the safety of women, enhancing counter-terrorism preparedness, and ensuring VIP security will be among his key priorities.
