Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M Scindia virtually inaugurated the 100th N-Gen Post Office of India Post at North-Eastern Hill University in Shillong on Thursday, May 6,2026. The facility has been developed as a modern, youth-centric postal space aimed at serving students, faculty members, and campus residents. Addressing the gathering, Scindia said that India Post is evolving in line with the aspirations of a young and dynamic nation. He noted that the N-Gen initiative reflects a broader vision of transforming traditional post offices into vibrant, digitally enabled, and citizen-centric service hubs. The Minister highlighted that the initiative focuses on outreach to youth, with such post offices being set up within educational institutions to create contemporary, student-friendly environments. These facilities offer modern amenities including free Wi-Fi, QR-based booking and payment systems, dedicated student service counters, and concessional parcel and mail services, while also promoting the tradition of letter writing.
