Actress Radhika Harshe Vidyasagar shares that shooting for a daily soap is often very challenging
“A daily soap is difficult to manage. The term ‘daily soap’ itself implies that you have to shoot daily, with challenging work schedules. With seven days of telecast, it's really difficult. I almost take an hour with the traffic and everything. But still, Film City is a nice place to shoot. I've been shooting for daily soaps for more than 25 years now, so I am very comfortable with the TV medium. You have to make an effort to manage your house, your family, and your work. It is difficult. At times, it is hectic. I cook my food early in the morning and carry all three meals with me as far as possible. I don't eat outside food. So, yes, doing all these things by yourself and then working for 12 hours is difficult. But I’m enjoying it, I am managing it, and I am proud that I can manage this and am very happy,” she says.
However, daily soaps are a constant source of income, she says, “You get good money. Hard work pays off. You do have to sacrifice a few things, but what you get in return is much more important and fruitful. I am comfortable working in daily soaps, in fact, I am comfortable working in all mediums now. But yes, TV is my medium, so it's my comfort zone. Some actors dislike being labelled a TV actor. I don’t know. To each their own. But I'm an actor. I'm a performer. I have been doing Marathi theatre and stage for years. There is no label as such. I am an actor, a stage actor, a TV actor. I have done a number of ad films and films. The medium is just a medium, but acting remains the same. So, whoever labels me, it doesn’t matter. An actor, at the end of the day, is an actor, a performer. You have to run a house, be busy, and be seen. So, to sum it up, it doesn’t matter much to me,” she says.
She adds, “The best part of working in television is that you work daily. You don't have to sit and wait for work. You are seen every day and recognized every day. When I go out, people know me and recognize me. What else could you want? The best part is you're working every day. I don't differentiate between TV and other mediums. I will never say the best part of working in TV is this and the best part of working in ad films or films is that. The best part is that you keep on working. That's the best thing.”

Social media can be a great blessing: Sumbul Touqeer
Sumbul Touqeer, who is currently seen in Kavya - Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, says social media can be a boon if one knows how to take it positively and not focus on the negatives. She said, “Social media is a bane and a boon, depending on how you decide to use it. Social media helps me reach more people, interact with my fans, and get more real-time feedback on my work, but that is it. I try not to let it affect me. I think social media can be a great blessing if you know how to not get attached to it or take things personally. I enjoy the reach it gives me as an actor and prefer to focus on only the positives of the booming technology.”
But because of her hectic shooting schedule, it is difficult for her to use social media regularly. However, she added, “But I do scroll through it when I am on my way back home or when I get time on sets. I also keep my fans and loved ones updated about my work through social media, so that way I am very looped in. I also love making reels with my co-actors, sisters, and friends. Making funny reels with them makes our minds fresh and new memories too, I believe.”
Sumbul doesn’t believe in focusing on the hunger of followers; she feels it’s not healthy for anyone to keep a tab on it. She said, “I know that a strong social media following represents popularity, and I do sometimes get flattered by it, but I keep telling myself it cannot let me take my craft of acting lightly. So, I don't get swayed by it.” “I don't think actors should get influenced by such things. I feel that the day I start getting affected by social media numbers, it will be the end of me. For me, what also matters is the loyal fanbase. I am glad that I have one,” she added.
She feels grateful for the success she has achieved in her career so far and said, “I think God has been really kind. There is still so much to learn and so much to do.” “I don't know how many artists get a chance to do what I got to do at such a young age, and therefore there is nothing but gratitude in my heart. But I know that there are miles to go before I sleep! There are so many stories to hear and so many characters to play. I can't wait to explore my career all the more!” Sumbul ended.

The song features the talented actor Paras Kalnawat, best known for his roles in Star Plus television shows like ‘Anupamaa’ and ‘Meri Durga,’ alongside digital creator and actress Kanika Shharma.
Shot against the picturesque landscapes of Kashmir in just a day, the song written and composed by Sanjeev Chaturvedi tells a poignant tale of friendship and love. Amidst this turmoil, she finds solace and genuine affection in her supportive friend, who stands by her with unwavering emotional support. Rohitashv Gour: Being part of a daily soap means constant work and a steady income
Countering the perception that showbiz can be highly unpredictable in terms of work and payment, actor Rohitashv Gour, says that being part of a daily soap solves all these problems. The actor, who plays the role of Tiwariji in Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli’s show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, adds that a daily soap provides regular work and income as well.
“Being part of a daily soap means constant work and a steady income. However, doing the same type of shoot every day can get boring for an actor. Over time, they might feel their creativity is stifled and wonder why they're doing it. But then, they get used to the monthly paychecks, which can be quite substantial. This steady income can lead to a comfortable lifestyle, like buying cars or houses, but it also brings additional responsibilities. Despite the challenges that come with daily soaps, the allure of consistent work and good pay can sometimes lead to a bit of temptation,” he says.
However, he adds that many actors don’t like to be associated with TV. “It's puzzling why some actors dislike being labelled as TV actors. Many big-name actors, like Amitabh Bachchan, have worked in television. After all, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have also ventured into TV. However, actors are actors, whether they work in films, ads, documentaries, web series, or cinema. The label of ‘TV actor’ seems arbitrary and troubling, as it shouldn't define an actor's worth or talent,” he says.
Ask him what is the best part about working on TV, and he says, “Working in TV can be enjoyable, especially if you're involved in comedy or episodic structures where stories change frequently. In our show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, we present a new story every five episodes, which keeps things fresh and gives us different situations to work with. It's exciting because we're doing something new every day. This episodic format adds variety to our work, unlike typical daily soaps where the work might feel repetitive. So, the best part for me is that we get to work on different stories, which keeps things interesting. Otherwise, it can feel like any other job, just in a setting where people watch you and you earn well.”
